Last Friday, we celebrated the Read to Run Kickoff with Curtis & Co. Through this program, our 5th grade students get 2 new books of their own, plus Read to Run goodies. When they finish reading, they receive new sneakers, as well as a morning of celebration! We can't wait!

It's never a dull day in the library! Students choose activities where they can build perseverance & creativity. Last month, we decorated cookies to celebrate the genre, or type of story, that we love. We shopped the ROAR cart, made ornaments, built with magnet tiles, & more.

We are so grateful to Rainbow Puppet Productions and their grant with Optima Health to bring stories to life through song, dance, and puppeteering! This was our third year welcoming them to our stage -- and it was just as much fun as the first time.

The winter concert is one of our favorite events of the year! It's wonderful to see so many of our students showcase their talents through singing, cheering, and playing instruments. This year was no exception. Thank you all for coming out and showing your support!

Our library is so grateful to be one of the recipients of a HEF Innovative Learning grant, which purchased these GIANT magnet tiles to promote cooperative learning and team communication. This is just a preview of activities to come, all featuring materials made possible by HEF!

Check out the Glen Lea cheerleaders! We loved seeing them perform at the Winter Concert. They practice hard each week and it paid off! They brought down the house with all the cheering, clapping, and stomping from the crowd! We can't wait to see them perform at future events.

Throwback Thursday -- Check out these pictures from "Anything but a cup!" day before Winter Break. We loved seeing student and staff creativity -- as well as the shocked expressions on student faces when we drank out of boots, horns, beakers, and more.

We're so proud of our kindergarten artists, who created these cheerful snowmen in December . One had her artwork featured in an HCPS card. Their wishes for snow came true! :) We hope you are all cozy and warm, & we look forward to seeing your students back in the building soon!

Congratulations to Isaiah, our 2024 spelling bee winner, and Jakhi, our runner up! It was a tense ending with multiple rounds back and forth!!!! We are so proud of our competitors, who showed bravery and brilliance as they competed last week. It's not easy to stand on that stage!

We are grateful to everyone who came to our Family Game Night in November! We hope you had fun playing games with friends & family. Games are such a fun way to practice academics -- while also building turn-taking, problem-solving, and frustration tolerance that we need to learn!

We hope you'll be joining us for our annual winter concert on this Thursday, December 12th. We're excited to see our choir and drum line perform, as well as all of our lovely students who join us for sing-alongs! It promises to be a lot of fun!

The Glen Lea KEVA team recently competed in the annual KEVA competition, with the 2nd/3rd grade team receiving 3rd place! Students practice all Fall to build collaboration and creativity for thematic challenges and speed builds. Their growth shows in the designs they created!

Recently, we celebrated DINOvember & Thanksgiving in the library through books, building challenges, imaginative journeys, and collaborative projects. It's not easy to turn a straw into a shovel, but they did it! Students also wrote thank you notes & leaves for a thankful tree.

This November, we're thankful for the staff, families, and students that make extracurricular activities at Glen Lea possible! We had students compete in both basketball and soccer tournaments this month. We're so proud of how our Lions continue to develop their teamwork skills!

We are grateful for our amazing students, dedicated staff, and wonderful community. Check out the hundreds of people and things that our students are thankful for this season! Happy Thanksgiving!

Last week, we celebrated Thanksgiving with our 3rd annual balloon parade. 2nd graders learn about the history of the Macy's parade before designing their own balloons with Miss Fines. We were also lucky enough to be joined by the ROAR Steppers & the cheerleading team!

Miss Fines and our students bring sunshine to our school every day! Check out this sunny mural that students brought to life in art class over the last month, which will add some extra joy to our Telehealth Clinic. Students led a ribbon cutting this week to celebrate!

PK-2nd grade students had the opportunity to attend a woodwinds quintet performance last week. We are so proud of how attentive and engaged students were throughout the performance. And, of course, we loved singing when they recognized "We Don't Talk About Bruno"!

We loved celebrating youraccomplishments at the awards assembly last week! Students were recognized for their academic achievements, attendance, and ROAR behaviors. We also recognized students for their perseverance & kindness in the library. Check out these proud smiles!

Each quarter, we celebrate ROAR -- responsibility, organization, achievement, and respect -- with "Fun Friday" during students' LAMPS. This month, the library hosted a "glam party" where we made sunglasses and bracelets. Check out these GLAM Lions, showing off their new gear!
