Thank you, 4th & 5th graders, for a great Literary Festival!. Each team selected a book to inspire products and digitally-designed stores & menus. They "sold" their hand-crafted items to PK-3, learning about supply/demand, pricing, & marketing before presenting at Henrico 21!

Thanks to everyone who brought glasses to school to share! Our students LOVED checking out the partial solar eclipse as they waited for dismissal today. We love the awe, surprise, and joy on their faces! This is the heart of learning ❤️

History came alive for 2nd graders in Mrs. Harlow's class before Spring Break... Check out these blast-from-the-past phones!! Students had fun comparing the past and present as they pretended to call friends & family using telephones that many had never seen before.

We are so excited for Spring Book Fair! We've unpacked DogMan, Taylor Swift, Ninjago, Gabby's Dollhouse, Stitch, diaries & much more. Did you know the book fair supports the school library? It's a win-win for our Lions! Learn more or set-up eWallet at www.tinyurl.com/glesbooks

THIS WEEK -- On Thursday, March 21st, we will be hosting a magical math show from 5:30-7pm. Yes, that's a magic show that features math, reminding us how fun and engaging math can be at school and home. We look forward to laughing and being amazed with you this week.

COMING SOON -- March 21st, we will be hosting a magical math show from 5:30-7pm. Yes, you read that correctly! Math AND magic! We are looking forward to laughing and being amazed together, while remembering math is fun. Light refreshments will be served.

We also met Sara Shepard, author of the Penny Draws series (& Pretty Little Liars!). Our students clamored to ask more Qs & share ideas -- future authors, we hope! BIG thanks to BBGB for the work they do to bring authors to students in RVA! We could not do it w/o them.

Our first graders learned how to"attractive" science can be when they explored magnetism recently. Magnets are great for seeing motion in action, since they can PULL together or PUSH apart. They also practice asking questions, making predictions, and drawing conclusions.

How lucky are we, Glen Lea?!? Stephen Shaskan recently visited our school to talk about Pizza & Taco, teach us how to draw them, and create our own Glen Lea wrestlers! We loved singing and doing the best friends dance with you. BIG thanks to bbgb for bringing reading to life!!!!

First graders have been exploring force, motion, and other science concepts in many different ways -- driving robots, playing tug of war, building marble runs, and more! These hands on experiences help students deepen and cement their learning.

2nd graders in Mrs. Harlow's class continue their year as scientific investigators by observing candy hearts and how they dissolve in different substances. Students are learning to make hypotheses, take observations, and determine the results. We love seeing hands-on learning!

Our students rocked it at our annual Black HIstory celebration, with poetry readings, musical performances, and well-researched speeches about a variety of past and present important figures. We are proud of their hard work & glad you were able to come see all they've learned.

Here at Glen Lea, we have a wide range of clubs & activities to help every student find a place where they belong, feel seen, & can share their talents! Sports, art, legos, & more... Thank you to our families who joined us on Saturday for a community celebration of our students.

Wow! What a fun time we had today with Lincoln Center jazz band, here at Glen Lea. We learned that jazz originated in New Orleans, named different instruments, and even helped create a new song with different emotions. Thank you for letting us dance the morning away with you all!

We are thrilled that Stephen Shaskan, author of Pizza & Taco, will be joining us at Glen Lea this Friday. Our students have been celebrating these characters with Play-Doh, art, and even PIZZA SLIME! You can still order a signed copy of the book at www.tinyurl.com/glesbbgb

4th graders have been busy recently, going on field trips, celebrating Valentine's Day, and building strong relationships with each other & their teachers. We work hard -- but we also have fun as we build kind class communities where students want to come to school every day.

Glen Lea's 2nd grade students recently finished their swimming lessons, after spending six weeks learning to be both brave and safe in the water as they practice putting their heads under water, floating, and swimming. Thank you to HCPS for creating this opportunity!

Thank you again for joining us at the "Be Mine" breakfast! We loved seeing the smiles & excitement as our community spent time together on Valentine's. Our students shared their joy all day long. Shout out to our amazing student support team for creating this opportunity!

Happy Valentine's Day! We are grateful for everyone in our community who showed up this morning. We are sorry for the late update, but the 4th grade dance was postponed due to scheduling conflicts. We hope to see you at upcoming events; next is the 2/29 Black History Night!

Happy School Counselor Appreciation Week! We know we appreciate Ms. Brown & Ms. Rice across their many roles -- support system, advocate, cheerleader, collaborator, educator, and so many more. We know our students love and appreciate you all year long!
